Sam Miller - Machine Learning Engineer

Sam is our resident AI consultant and font of all knowledge when it comes to AI, machine learning and explaining it in a way that actually makes sense. Here are some examples of Sam’s expertise and experience in the world of artificial intelligence.

Sam graduated from the University of Cambridge with a MSc Distinction in Economics. Whilst there he won three Jesus College Scholarships and the Malthus Prize for high academic achievement, specialising in statistics and econometrics.

After spending three years applying his knowledge as an Economist at the Bank of England analysing financial regulation, he progressed to the Alan Turing Institute to study for his PhD in AI.

Sam’s PhD research focused on AI for improving Economic Forecasting with unstructured data sources, such as text and images. His research would end up being covered by major media outlets such as the BBC and Der Spiegel.

More recently Sam led a research paper on evaluating the reliability of language-model-powered AI agents in a workplace setting. This was used by teams at Google, Nvidia, and published in the first Conference on Language Models.

Right now, Sam’s passion lies in helping make sure AI is matching business requirements - just because something can be done, it doesn’t mean it should be. This philosophy applies to enthusiastic CEOs jumping head first into AI without fully understanding it first. But with something as new as mainstream AI, is it a case of not knowing what you don’t know? Sam is here to make sure you’re asking the right questions.
